Iron Bars And Mortar

Iron bars and mortar do not a prison make they say.
But it helps a lot especially when a liar has her way.
So now what, what is going to happen after they have buried Larry?
I can only pray that they will finally get justice for this man who died in prison.
He died because of a lying informant and a too eager Prosecutor who just wanted to put him in prison.

The case was tried twice and therefore the judge wanted closure on a horrible crime.
There is no closure however because a man was framed for something he did not do.
Despite testimony and despite the evidence which showed he was not at the scene of the crime.
A woman who had five felony charges against her dropped if she would finger Larry Stokes for it.
Then even she recanted and then retold it despite the evidence not being there, Larry Stokes went to prison.
He died on May 10, 2008 without ever knowing whether he would be cleared.
Justice is blind but I would pray that on the wings of the angel who returns all back to heaven will rain down justice.
I am sorry Larry, I really am.

Author notes

Larry Stokes died in a Virginia prison on May 10, 2008. Despite the fact that no DNA evidence linked him to the case he was convicted on the word of a five time felon and liar. I hope that the Commonwealth Attorney Mayo Gravatt will be haunted by this for the rest of his life.

A contest entry

The Governor Of Virginia should be petitioned by all to have his sentence overturned even in death. Larry deserves this.

Hmm... Was the ACLU, or the SPLC, brought in on this case? How else, can we hold officials (elected or otherwise) responsible for the ultimate consequences of their actions?
We must find appropriate legal ways to do so.
I think you might like my series on Homelessness.
There is a lot of unjustified actions also taken against them. Just go to my Profile Page, and click on Homelessness, in my list.

I love the way you chose a real life story to reflect the intense emotions in your story. How intense the feeling were and frustration was when Larry went to prison. Good luck XoX
