PANDORA’S BOX
Many a wise tongue has clucked
at poor Pandora's sin:
how much more foolish is the tongue
who, having clucked,
repeats the crime - like mine.
You've opened up again
haven't you?
Let the safe shield slip an inch.
You should have snapped
hard fast the lock,
and, unlike Pandora,
sat upon the lid.
Haven't you learned yet
that the slipper you carry
will never fit?
that there is no
girl among the cinders
waiting for you?
Didn't you spread your cards
along the table
one last time?
Risk one final toss of dice?
Fool!
Fortune will never smile on you,
since Luck's a lady
and ladies don't love you.

The man that believes he can
And the man that believes he can't
Are both right. -
I really admire the creativity that went into this poem. A lot of broken heart poems lack that creative feel. Great work.
