Another year has passed you by but not another era.
Candles on a cupcake, twelve I think I count
and with each a wish for you plus one on account.
I know you’re still in limbo, living as a “tween”
but soon you’ll cross the line and be officially a teen.
I’m sure that you are feeling that you’ll never reach that day.
It’s like being in school on Monday wishing it was Saturday!
But that “someday” will come soon enough and with it glowing smiles.
And once the time has passed, you’ll find the wait worthwhile.
Soon you’ll be in high school and from there the skies are blue.
But before we get too far ahead… I have a gift for you!
I know you love the Warriors and all ready have “Outcast”
but I wanted to find you something to make the enjoyment last.
I found some pink flamingoes and, just for your pleasure,
covered them with beads of crystal making them a treasure.
In these funny plastic birds, I hope that you will see
a future bright with promise, full of possibilities.
They may seem kind of silly, some may even say tacky,
but they carry a message of how much you mean to me.
