Feast Upon Your Words

What secrets will you reveal tonight
or magic wish will you bring to light?
Greetings to all you literary ghosts
haunting old reams of forgotten text.

Adventure appeals to every age
as stories flow from your written page.
Shall we kiss the lips of a princess
our hearts consumed by hot flames of love?

Perhaps instead we will chart the stars
or peruse old scrolls stored in clay jars.
Your tall tales are intoxicating,
fueling my imagination.

It's your subtle wisdom that I find
wafting into my subconscious mind.
Come my faithful friends and fill me up
for I wish to feast upon your words.

Oh! I love this, I tried to write a poem once on how reading is, but you have captured it so much better and in so few lines! This is amazing. My favorite part was "or peruse old scrolls stored in clay jars."
I love that imagery. Thank you for entering in my contest and good luck.

This is an interesting form! And I love poems about writing and reading. I really like the way it begins with a question.

You did an excellent job in keeping within the contest requirements. This is good!!

Amazingess! Purest of truth in your writing!
Perhaps tonight we’ll explore the stars,
or peruse old scrolls stored in clay jars.
    Your stories are intoxicating
fueling bouts of imagination.- I love that line (the whole poem itself was freakin amazing though!!!)

    Simply Perfect

You were able to produce a succinct idea using creative imagery and lovely wording. I really tried to be critical & decide on a favorite line or stanza but truthfully, I love the whole thing! Good write!!
