It's been long; much to long
holding back altered thoughts.
Abuse isn't always about fist
words can scar the spirit,
leave ones soul aflame.
Behind happy faces longing freedom
eventually; piety lost its way.
Bursting with anger hidden
in the light of everyday.
Torment comes in many hues
inadvertently they are mute.
Rocking with the hardest blows
you fight the impact; knowing
paradise has awakened.
Is this the place to be?
Heart broken needing
release to roam free.
Inhaling sweet atmosphere
escaping verbal wars.
Run, fast! Run far!
Still hiding my scars...

This was outstanding, my sister.. So deserving of the Gold. You wrote from your heart and it really reached out and touched mine. Verbal abuse had me wrecked for years until I realized it was their weakness and not my problem.
Your message gets across loud and clear.

what you wrote just hit such a chord with me. Thank you so much for the entry.

This hit a very personal chord here....Got me all choked up! But as usual you speak truth in volumes... Sometimes I think that the worst abuse is in the form of verbal. Bruises heal and pain fades but we NEVER forget the aweful names that we are called or they way they make us feel.... Excellent job novy. Best wishes

Is emotional abuse worse than physical abuse? This piece seems to address that. Excellent use of language; I love the way you bend words to your will. Outstanding and thought provoking write.
