Oddessy's End

Missing image
Across the angry billows of the sea,
are dark deep waters, my heart must traverse.
Poseidon's vengeance surely waits for me,
as I seek Ithaca, my universe.

But, Scylla and Charybdis are no match,
the lost winds of Aeolus won't forestall,
the righteous justice my bow shall dispatch,
when Ithaca becomes my port of call.

For sweet Penelope has suffered long,
as I have been Calypso's prisoner,
and my return will right this tragic wrong,
as all my love shall be returned to her.

Triumphant I shall end this epic tale,
to Ithaca, my home, once more I sail.

Author notes

I thought a sonnet mentioning her name and a nude man would be a fitting tribute.

This is a beautiful tribute. I liked the last line about the person being a home. It makes me think of something I heard in a film awhile ago about how when a person finds someone they love, in their heart, it's like they find their home. Thanks for sharing and best of luck in the contest.

  • well done sonnet and tribute.

    Perfect..

You hit upon the reason I chose my name... My head is filled with mythological gobble-dee-goop [fantasies] and naked men... hehe! No need for a crystal ball here, eh...??? You made me blush and I wasn't reduced to tears... again!!! Thank-you kind sir!!!

  • Well sonnetted and good always worth spreading your subject's name liberally
    I like it!
