If it be at all possible
to have lived and taken deep breath
in another time, long ago...
Tis you, who hath defeated death.
Yours is a tale of mystery
A story, waiting to be told
of creative beauty capturing
a heart, mind and soul of old.
Every so often when nobody is looking
our world is gifted with a star
to touch the lives everyone
all peoples near and far.

Contest: Sweet-and-Twenty by J.P.Troy.
You flatter me. I know I am many different things, but I cannot see myself as so grand and special as you describe. The language you use is so fine and delicate that it seemed to me you wove a shining dream of gossamer…but no more than a dream.
I am, in many ways, built of dreams. Yours is a wonderful one. I love your inclusion of Shakespearian words, such as “’Tis” and “hath”, which are so much a part of my dreaming.
I have often felt I was born in the wrong time, a feeling you beautifully illustrate with your lines:
“to have lived and taken deep breath
in another time, long ago... ”
and
“a heart, mind and soul of old.”
However, the “star” you speak of is not me. Not yet, anyway. I dream that, one day, through my writing, I will be able to do as you describe and:
“to touch the lives (of) everyone
all peoples near and far.”
You give me something to aspire to. A most precious birthday gift, indeed.
Thank you for entering this contest. Good luck.
J.P. Troy

I like what you re saying here, about the immortality of certain people. "creative beauty", defeating death and so on. Nice tribute to the birthday girl.
