the word

Rainbow colours were the wind in our hair,
the soft touch of raindrops of purity,
a surge of hope
as we all leaned upon one another
spreading that message of peace.

We knew the way home,
suddenly no longer afraid
of the disquiet that had rippled
through our senses for so long.

We knew how to sing
the simple joys of existence
and within our apparent malleable words
was the strength of the bond
that saw only kaleidescopes of wonder
and the power of oneness.

The new era throbbed
with strains of harmony
and we could cherish
the simplicity of the miracles
within our reach.

We knew the answers
and spread the message
in clear tones of unison,
sharing our rainbows
across generations and horizons.

The darkness was shunned into
a vortex of oblivion
and soft petals of compassion
were the way forward.

That was when the word
yielded the light
and souls
struggled to shine.

Here is a gentle reminder of what it was all about. the message of peace, the simple joy of existence, the power of oneness, harmony, simplicity, rainbows, compassion, the final stanza sums it all up for me. I gave this, on revision, 8.

This poems is a wonderful testiment to all that was beautiful - the love, the peace, the acceptance of everyone. It reminded me of the communes that sprung up in the country side - with people who had never farmed trying to connect with the land. I love the lines 'the simplicity of miracles within our reach'. That is exactly what we thought we had. I gave this a 10.

  • It makes me think of that time of peace between wars. I love the imagery.
  • I had to go listen to what inspired this beautiful write!! Classic song...

Wouldn't it be just wonderful to be swept into a love like that.. that receeds the darkness to a mere flicker!!
