My Mentor.

 

You are my mentor,

a light that's always there.

When I was broken;

you lifted me up.

You were my footsteps when I couldn't walk;

you always seemed to lead me in the right direction.

You're one of the stars in my life,

never to be burnt out, or faded.

 

You weaved a web of care,

along with constant support.

Without you, I would've been lost,

but you held my hand willingly.

 

My gratitude you'll always hold;

also a large piece of my heart.

Thank you for all that you've done,

I hope to be half the person you are.

    This is a great tribute to what must be a wonderful friend. I only found a small problem with the word "weaved". I think I would leave it in the present tense and use "weave" because your next line is also in the present tense.

    aww, i also know how this feels. My lover is the person who makes me feel this way. I love him dearly, despite the troubles his gender has caused me. I'm so happy that you have someone like this to hold you up when you put yourself down.

    Whoever you wrote this for is very lucky.
    And whoever feels this way for someone is aswell.
    The wording and body of this is beautiful beyond compare, and I can easily tell you put your heart into it.

    Oh my gosh, I bet she loved this poem you did for her. Yeah I have my mentors also (in fact more than what is necessary LOL) but I can't meet half of mine because their either famous or passed away

    I love having best friends, their so nice to be around aren't they?

    i love the last line, best friends, beyond forever...it really shows the extent of just how much she meant to you. i had a friend who meant this much to me, and she passed away in at the age of 12 of cystic fibrosis. i wrote a poem about it called "untitled", and it would be really kind of you to check it out and maybe leave a comment. keep up the good work! =]

    Nice poem

    I envy the relationship you have with this person. It seems wonderful, and one that could lead to many other wonderful poems. I was left with one thing as a reader though. What is it your mentor has done to help you? I would love to hear actual things that occured with your mentor that made you feel this. It would help me to feel it along with you. Your experiences would make me feel this along with you in a richer way. By adding one in each stanza would make this better in my humble opinion.
