I first saw you in the city
Under the gray of towering buildings
I followed you then past flickering neon
Under the rainy skies
Are you real?
Are you creation of my mind?
I saw you in the forest
Under the branches weighed down by fallen snows
I followed you across the frozen river
Under the spray of a rushing falls
Do I see clearly?
Do I deny my sight?
I saw you in the glorious dawn
Under the brilliance of suns first light
I followed you through heavy air
Under the fire of morning
Where will you appear next?
Where will you deny me next?
I saw you int he chill of the night
Under the light of the moon
I followed you no longer
As you danced under the celestial beauty
Goodbye my spector
May we meet again
One last time

I can certainly see why this has received a gold already. At first glance, I'd think that the questions would take away from the poem, causing a stutter affect. But as reality dawned, I realized that they add a layer of emotion in the form of curious fear. I am terrified by the prospect of being in love and yet, my soul seeks it like no other prize. You have captured that unsure feeling here in spades.
Good luck in the contest! -
I am struck dumb...this hits home so hard for me. The essence of the emotional and spiritual journey inherent in love was captured perfectly, and you used such beautiful imagery and atmosphere! "I followed you through heavy air/Under the fire or morning..." Such seemingly simple words, yet they hold within them such a world of feeling...Wonderfully evocative! PS Did they ever meet again?

Oh, this piece is so beautiful and emotional. You did a great job with the details, and everything! I love the questions you asked in it. It really added to it. Thank you for entering and good luck in the contest!
