Heart Encased In Ash

tears of blood

Dripping from a fountain
of everlasting sorrow,
My tears of rubies
are a display of how my heart trembles.
I have nothing but remorse, for now, this heart
once belonged to you, now is vacant.

Nothing in you could stop my heart
from being torn
As if your were a clot, here to stop the bleeding
of my soul
Nothing cries out louder than I have

Feelings of weakness, as sick as can be
Wanting to know
What have I done to deserve such pain?
Is this life's way of playing a game?
If so, I forfeit.

For, in my sadness
I'm dripping rubies on the carpet.

Great write, lots of emotion. I also enjoyed the tears to rubies analogy, and I liked the second stanza the best, well done. Thanx for entering and good luck!

Hmmm... This had its moments, though the last line was a little harsh for the rest of the piece. I loved the analogy of blood to rubies, though... Simply stunning there! Also, the dual usage of the word 'heart' one after the other in the first stanza was a bit awkward, but those first 4 lines were incredible. Well done, and good luck!
