See Ya

I.
Life’s shadow is:
at once -- a dream
as predictable as a penumbra
where all glittering lost objects hide
a moment -- no longer present, but not yet
past

II.
I found her nestled in her words
daring anyone to stop
truly see her.
She was full of anticipation
damning her ignorance.

III.
She seeks my opinion.
Humbles me, with honor.
No lie exists between us.
I wish I had more to offer,
than the warped mirror of my critiques.

IV.
She never hears her greatness.
Swears she burns to a peel.
Often caught in her love
for friends and family, you have to
yell at the top of your lungs to get
her to hear how good she is.

Aw, I enjoyed this read so very much!!
It sounds so much like a play role of fantasy, in my opinion...the flows so beautiful, like a peaceful stream along side a wood

    How Charming!

The last stanza is simply lovely. What a lucky friend she is to have such a gem penned in her honor.

this is a wonderful peice for your friend i do say, yet 8th line needs 'and' to make it alittle more flow, otherhighs it has a great message that sometimes those introverted create some of the best artwork there is, a mirror worth all those times we beat ourselves up to create perfection and self realisation, as sometimes thats all there is...

    anyhighs nice write

I write these poems when it seems time or a contest is going and I can get my mind around the idea, something must provoke me. Like I often say, I don't write poetry as much as it writes me. I love to bring my friends to the Light and let other see why they are such a great delight. I agree, 'cause it is true that all too often people don't really see much when that look at others in their life. But, I have found if you listen with your heart, hear beneath the chatter of the forebrain, you discover quickly those people who live life fully and take each plunge into the sea of life as if it was their last.

I am glad you see. I really don't think my insight is all that remarkable though my wife is trying to get me to see it is a gift. I see what I see because it is there.

Make me a favorite, I have no problem with it. In fact, I am honored.

Lovely gathering of verses here to write about a fellow writer on this site. Liked the flow and the images one gets when reading this. What a lovely tribute to someone - enjoyed reading the comments as well - great sign of friendship to create something like this...

I don't write these often or maybe I do when I think about it. I like to celebrate my friends. They deserve all the glory they get.

The title got my attention first, I was wondering where you were going. Then as I read, I saw such a beautiful respect for another poet you speak very well of. Your forms are eloquent I felt you were taking to me face to face about a wonderful person. I must check her out....send me her link.....excellent write & tribute............novy

One of her nicknames is Cia. She often says See ya, Cia. I do respect her. She has developed from a naif to a novice to a poet in record time. She handles forms as well as free verse like a pro. I got her listed on my favorites from the first day she got on AP. She read and commented on one of my poems so I had to check out hers. I will send you a link soon.

You give her substance, as a woman and as a poet, but you do it with feeling and no over embellishments. Just words that send her love and joy as you do to all of us that you pen for. Love, c

Sometimes the simplist things are the most craftily constructed and the most complicated to pull off. The structure in this is the first verse is very philosophical and then the following three are expansions of lines in the first. Ithica is one of the fastest learners in poetry. She has developed quite a voice, reminds me well of someone I was once asked to mentor

Now this is good. Your words felt 'comfortable' here...Not overly
poetic, just human words and feelings. Very well done, Tom.

It is funny. There is more technique and form in this one. The construct used is subtle but clear and this poem mirrors itself and refracts its images. The opening chapter a very tight and refined fractal of and idea. What is the shadow that life casts?

Not picking on you Lane. It is just that I play with layers constantly and use styles. The rock stuff kind of like sixties acid rock, this one a bit more like jazz and folk fusion. I am glad you enjoy it. I just would be lieing if I didn't tell you. Thanks for the support

What a very unique poem indeed. To get to know her...your words paint a picture of a woman who is all kind and yet she does nothing for herself. ~Sie

She has learned through life's hard knocks to take care of herself but she does shower her heart on the ones she loves. Her poetry is well worth the read. Glad you stopped by to share your pleasure.

She likes to work with form on occasion. I am not very good at it. So I created this piece to work on a formula. Still free verse but every chapter after the first expands on a line of what life's shadow is. Seemed appropriate. She is well worth reading. Thanks for sharing your pleasure with this piece.

This was so wonderful it brought a tear to my eye and a lump to my throat!!! I STILL don't trust that I am "any good" but I know I "feel good" after reading these cherished words... Don't be surprised when I wear out the words thank-you... And I do, from the the deepest part of my heart!!! Thanks

I am a success if I got the lump in the throat. This is really a very technically created poem. each verse after the first one catching a line about what life's shadow is. I hope you spotted the pun. By the way, you are that good. Own it, it will allow you to become even better.
      Love,
      Tom B.
