revolutions

my spirit chokes back the invisible tears
that hide beneath my smiling lips
I wish for this moment to last forever;
the moment I am encircled by your arms.
the left glistens fleetingly around my waist and
a sanguine warmth flutters up my spine.
the right arm reaches, extends to cradle my head against your chest.
your palm delicately rests there, on top of dark locks,
collecting the soft texture of each umber strand.
through your embrace,
your glassy smooth cotton T
imprints its feel into my skin
as my pallor leans against your shoulder for a sparse moment.
My own fingers fight the coiling urge
that may hinder your departure.
When will I see you next?
When is the next time I will be caught in an embrace?
My eyes fall to the cold cement of my driveway
as your loosened clutch retreats, you stepping back.
The dim street lamp illuminates you.
I miss you, I miss everything.
The cycle continues
like the tire’s axon-spinning revolutions
emitted as you drive away.
