Title? (chpt. 1-3)

[Mis-introductions]

A woman. Fighting against a zombie.
((The way it seems to not fight against her…))
I jumped out of a window, pulled out my newly acquired katana, and sliced the zombie in half. Then my blade entered and exited an approaching zombie, causing it to turn into rotten…smelly mincemeat.

“How…?” the woman stared at the mystery man in wonder.
“When you have been around death as much as I have,” he shrugged “, it’s the only thing to look forward to.” He took a cloth out of his pocket and wiped the blade.
“So, what’s your name?” He asked nicely.
“Keira. What’s yours?”

He stopped cleaning the blade. “I don’t have a name. I lost it several years ago. But the name Tony keeps surfacing.”

She ran into Tony and wrapped her arms tightly around the man, and started sobbing. She thanked him several times and still held on.

“You’re welcome,” he said as he in turn embraced her. They held each other for a moment and then let go. He ran a hand through his dirty blonde hair, and then sheathed the sword.

He started looking around – at the two he just sent back to peace, the yard they were in…the garbage and other debris covering the place – and then said, with a determined voice, “We should go now…there’s no knowing if there will be more.”

She giggled a little and said, “Okay, sounds good to me!” He smiled and eventually walked over to the abandoned cars next to them. He checked for anything useful – food, cell phones – but didn’t find much. He started to walk past them when Keira put her arm on his.

“Shouldn’t we use one of the cars?”

((What about those giant creatures I saw earlier?))

He sighed and shook his head. Telling her the truth of what’s out there would cause her to run and be put into more danger, so he thought of hyperbole – bending the truth – and decided to go along with it.  “The noise could attract them more than the smell of our flesh.” Looking back at her he saw she had a disappointed look, so he smiled at her.

“Hey, think of it this way: it’s always been nicer just to walk. Besides, would you rather be sitting down or on your feet when…” he almost went into describing the monstrosities he had came across the day before “…when one of those things appears?”

“You’re right,” she smiled back at him. With nothing much more to say they started walking down what used to be a beautiful neighborhood, one that was now populated by scattered furniture, corpses, and above all others, cars.

[Inside Info]

((It’s been nearly an hour now...why hasn’t my knight said anything?))

After we started walking Tony went silent, so I wrapped my fingers in his, hoping that I could make my knight say anything. We had passed by several abandoned cul-de-sacs, which we quickly inspected. We found lots of canned foods and tightly sealed drinks and other nouvelties. He searched a few rooms and found a couple backpacks, one having a depiction of a man in a red and blue suit swinging on what looked to be rope. They contained school papers, several books, and other various items, so he cleaned them out and started packing the food and drinks.

Then after we left he eventually spotted a gas station, which had already been gone through. I then put my hand in his again; this time he actually grabbed mine. We continued walking, a backpack slung over each of our shoulders.

“So when did you come here?”

((Huh? Oh, he’s talking now!)) (She smiled a little) ((Hmm…how did I end up here? I’d better not tell him.))
“I’m not sure. It’s a long story.”
Tony laughed a little and said, “I’ve got all the time in the world!”
(( My, he’s persistent. ))

“Well, I used to live in England…with my mum and dad…It was quiet, peaceful. Then the infection spread. It killed my mum…” She started to cry a little. “After supplies were running low we moved into a group of flats, and he had barricaded the entrance. When we fled with a couple my dad got killed by a group of soldiers…the couple and I .eventually escaped to a farm where the horses ran free, untouched by t he virus.” She started crying and went into his arms again, seeking soft, warm comfort.

“After several months our supplies began to run out, so we hopped aboard a yacht with several others and headed to New York.”
“What a nightmare,” Tony solemnly said while holding her, still.
“Have you been there?”
“Yes. I was starting my life as a cop when the virus first started.” He thought back to the time he had spent in a city close to New York, where a contained virus broke free, and measures were taken to try and keep the virus contained still, even though--

“But this virus was completely different.”

“What do you mean?”

“A multi-billion dollar company had devised the virus, and an accident occurred where the virus broke free. They tried to cover it up but creatures, unimaginable creatures, where created…”
(( That’s awful…! ))She put her head on his shoulder.

“From New York, we traveled until they were separated from me.”

“How did you get to here, Maine, of all places?”

“The road eventually took me here…and I got lost, until….” She trailed off.

“Keira, are you okay?”

“Yeah, I am. We’d best take off.”

“I agree,” Tony said, and they started walking again, keeping close to one another…

[Just]

After walking for a while Keira asked if they were going anywhere in particular. Tony stopped and thought to himself:

((I didn’t think of it before but we’re lost now…There has to be something nearby…)) (He looked around) ((Aha!))

“Hey Keira, look! A department store!”
They gingerly walked towards it - - and Tony scanned the area: garbage everywhere...shattered glass…cars torn apart….

((No bodies…))

He stopped cold.
“Tony? What’s wrong?”
“Look around, Keira; is anything…missing?”
She looked around and said: “No one but us…” she trailed off again.
He handed her a handgun, which she almost instinctively checked and readied. He in turn unsheathed the katana. They continued, no longer holding hands.

I guess I’m ready for anything. I’ve seen that William Birkin monster, that giant bald guy…a mile-long squid…zombies that could - -

BAM!

He saw a gun in his face, pointing to the left. After the blast almost deafened him, he looked and saw a zombie a few yards away, with a festering hole above its right eye.

Author notes

I am writing this as a story but I am currently pursuing trying to make into a movie. I've even tried contacting a few actors/actresses about it. Thoughts?
