A Tree In The City (In Plain View)

Missing image
Weeping wild cherry
on spotted lawn green
escapes notice by all
nary it's beauty gleaned.

Overlooked by many
unappreciated by all
this majestic old growth
should completely enthrall.

A sentinel of sadness
in a world gone awry
where the beauty of God
seldom catches the eye.

The picture and the poem compliment each other, yet each can stand alone. so much of natures real beauty is, sadly, taken for granted. Only a few notice such things that exist in everyday life. very well done and should send a message to us all.

Whether the tree is a literal weeping cherry or figurative, it is indeed a sadness that such beauty should go unnoticed. This is a very pleasant brief piece. Thanks so much for entering my contest!

I, too, wish that people appreciated nature more.

I'm enthralled by nature, and its random beauty. Sadly, many are not, and you have captured this feeling superbly with this write.

    No sooner had I started

than the poem ended. That is because it is so darn enjoyable.
    My sentiments exactly, I feel.
    Good luck.

    Ah, as Joyce states:

"Maybe it will jog a few folks" - well it did. I am fortunate to drive along the beach front early morning to work - the sky often an awakening gold upon the silvery sea! Your poem does the same here to me - a touch of sad guilt, both because of my neglect to appreciate and for not often enough offer thanks to Him that so lovingly gives us this. Frans

A wonderful statement about how shallow and unappreciative humanity has become. People are in too much of a rush. God gave us a beautiful world, and we are ruining it by neglect.

Thanks for pointing this out to us. Maybe it will jog a few folks. Good luck. ~ Joyce
