Amazed

Ages old, it stands so tall
Magnificent; mountain steep
Standing still yes, I in awe
Couldn’t help but simply weep.

Then it came from deep within
Words to fill the shadowed haze
Of Mighty God, my dire sin,
Creation that does amaze...

To God I; so small and frail
Amazed that He could still see
On that mountain’s leaf roofed trail
One low sinner such as me!

Author notes

Words cannot describe the things going on in my mind when I was up there on that mountain, alone with God...

The knowledge that He still loves me, desires a relationship with me, that He can even SEE me through all the beauty He created... caused me to fall silent before Him at one time... no words to speak what I was feeling... no words at all!

That is the beauty of God. No matter where we are on this earth or in our lives, He is always there silently... and sometimes not so silently cheering us on. I saw God once.. in the eyes of a child who was 4 years old, I had known her when she was a baby, but came to her family again when she was 4.. so I had been around her for a few weeks. I was getting out of my car at her house. She walked straight up to me and said she heard me talking to her mommy and she knew that my heart was hurting, but that everything would be okay because God loved me. She said she knew because she asked him to help me.. and God listens to prayers. She told me that God loved me.

The love of God is an amazing sort of love. I am glad that you got to experience His love first hand.

    My

This is one excellent piece of poetry. So refreshing to read on a sight that mostly caters to love/sex. I must tell you I will be back to read more. Humility is never a bad thing.

Truly beautiful, I'm not sure my words would do much justice, but it was very moving.

    Fantastic

Perhaps you have discovered why the ancients built their altars on high places.

There are special places were we cannot help but feel close to God. Certainly,a mountain top is a living tabernacle built by the hand of God for HIs own glory.

My special tabernacle is a quiet forest next to a waterfall. God always speaks to me there.

    Great job Melissa.

You have a lot of friends on here, Melissa, and now I remember why. Your poetry reaches into the depths of truth and pulls out emotion, rhyme, form, and... wow... As I write I like to read back over the poem a few times just to get a better grasp, and each time I read it I find something new that I like. Your title is simple, but it describes the beauty of your poem well. You don't seem to write as much now, but I hope that picks back up because your poems are always so amazing

A grand rhetorical visual to complement the photo. A vision if you will.

With the fact that Jesus' blood is on you, His Father only sees the blood. Our sin does not wipe it out. Where sin abounds, grace abounds so much more.

It's interesting you seem caught in the idea of a tree at the edge of cliff. I would wager that it reminds you of someone so close to you. So close one would have to say it is you, or maybe what you wish to see in yourself.

Scripture encourages the idea of being "established": to be made stable. It should be the desire of any of the Lord's children.

I think it starts by being amazed in Him.

    Awesome!

Yes, lone places atop Mountains can bring us to a place close to His heart! I love the rhyme & sweet flow of this piece. The progression from start to finish is a nice continuum. Nothing like His grand creation to bring us to awareness of His majesty which is expressed so well. PS: Is this your pix? Beautiful!

    Melissa,
A silence before the Living God speaks volumes, knowing who He is and who we are is a humbling experience. I can relate to your words, not understanding how He could love even me. Thoughtful
poem you have penned here, may God continue to bless you my friend.

I am blown away! Just as you gave me the finest compliment on my last write, I return the favor, I wish I had written it. This is explosive and every moment I read chilled my childlike soul. You were at your finest in every line. This has the ring of the ancient writers of bygone days and yet up to date on catching me off guard. I remember so well when I first read you and the poem about the woman caught in adultry struck me like a load of asphalt pouring over me off a dump truck, caving in on me. I have stored that piece in my emotions from very early on here at AP. I have cradled that sentiment that you penned as kind of a guide in everything I've written ever since. The forgiveness of Him. The message in that write, and then you bring me this. You have been where it counts, and you can record the moments as grandly as anyone my friend. RC

    SO INSPIRING!!!!

Yes, being all alone in nature brings ones heart and feelings closer to him. As an only child while growing up I would play alone in our woods, alone my favorite stream and in the fields and meadows of my grandfathers farm. I learned so much from those days which I still carry with me now and always will.

    I need to go...

...to the Mountain. I have not been in years. To be humbled, and cleansed of my pain and bitterness, so that I can approach Him, with an open heart- instead of cowering and feeling UNWORTHY when i cannot, DARE NOT, judge Him!
The images...from the page- I would like to know where the Mountains are if you write me...I think maybe you spoke of them before? We have sky-islands here...and you have to go from the desert floor, up to 10,000 feet-
I need to decompress...what incredible words, and images, Melissa. Almost- enough to humble my own spirit. God bless you. Oh, and I remembered...'Anna', please send my love.

If you decide to write...it's on my page.
    All my love and wishes.
    -James.
