I'm only one
I'm not a pair,
you can look
but please don't stare.
I'm not too fat
don't call me pudgie
though I may be
a healthy budgie.
You give me seed
it's not a bother,
but don't forget
to bring me water.
I talk up a storm
to the bird in mirror
I'm always so cute
few could be fairer.
Open my door
let me stretch my wing
maybe a little later
a song I'll sing.

Looks like Chipper!
What a darling tale for a parakeet who looks like my first pet bird Chipper!
You brought back fond memories. Unfortunately since Chipper was my bird, I had to clean the cage, these darling birds can be really messy & I was allergic [though didn't know it then!]. Glad you won a trophy. This is such an apt, funny & true description! Bravo!

A beautiful write. You capture the personality of this bird very well. Good flow, rhyme and tone. Nice imagery and rhythm. Good word choice, nice alliteration and assonance. Well penned and much enjoyed. Best wishes in the contest.
