As I lay in bed
with dreams still in my head
I listen to the Birdsong
And know nothing is wrong
As I work in the office
where sanity is my only solace
I listen to the Birdsong
And know nothing is wrong
As I eat lunch
Tasting, with a satisfying crunch
I listen to the Birdsong
And know nothing is wrong
As I drive home from work
Late because of a jerk
I listen to the Birdsong
And know nothing is wrong
When I get home and park
Im met with a dog's bark
I listen to the Birdsong
And know nothing is wrong
When I enter the house
not even seeing a mouse
A falter in the Birdsong
I suspect something is wrong
As I read the note on the table
And see that her love must've been a fable
The sudden end of the Birdsong
And realize something is wrong
As I lay in cold sheets
not daring to fall asleep
I no longer hear the Birdsong
And think "something is wrong"
As I feel the cold metal in my mouth
The sun is rising, and I face the south
I hear the mourning Birdsong
And know I was wrong.
As I hear her run up the stairs
she prays I was slamming chairs
I shall miss the Birdsong
And know that this is wrong
As I lay on the floor, still and cold
in my mouth, a smoldering hole
I will forever hear the Birdsong
and I'll know nothing is wrong.
with dreams still in my head
I listen to the Birdsong
And know nothing is wrong
As I work in the office

I listen to the Birdsong

Author notes
I thought of this poem while i was waking up. I thought of the verse and the rest just came to me as I wrote. It's odd that I wrote this because I don't feel sad. Im actually quite happy. But I felt It should be put out there, so I typed it up. This is the first website I will be posting it on, The other is Myspace. Thank you, in advance, for your comments.

nice write. I feel some of the rhymes are better than others, for example the house and mouse rhyme wasn't the best. I liked the repetation of the lines, and felt you changed them just before i got bored of it.
thanks for entering and good luck!
Sunny
