We push at definitions as if putty
formed to palms of our pitiful hands
He says, he could, he would,
we should, you must
and all the while, he swirls mystically
through our hands and makes us
nothing but muddied
we are dust and clay beneath his hands
not vice versa, no matter how voraciously
we demand the form he takes
I am. You are. One
not selectmen nor salacious men
but spirit moved but nothing more
than his acquiesce to our tom-foolery
Paper flutters and rots but directives
dug into the marrow of our bones
sighs as we contort and cease
our belief and beleaguer others
to conform to our view of that venerable One
We are. He is: Nothing more need be made of it.

dearest carol,
your words are always filled with wisdom ...
how can we truly see "god" when we are like scary little children standing on the beach and gazing at the ocean, saying that it is "vast", but without ever having dived within to see that is also "deep" ...
a tiny glimpse will be all that we will get ...
but not the full vision ...
thank you, blessed one,

maa

Thank you, so much...if we coudl simply accept personal understandings are as unique as individuals, we would go a long ways towards Peace.

A powerful write. How people use their beliefs does not alter the nature of God. Most of the evil attributed to religion is in fact the evil of humanity.
There is a scripture in Ecclesiastes that says (about) "He has placed eternity in the heart of man, but he cannot fathom God's plan from beginning to end"
The bible teaches God conceals himself for his own reasons, but invites us to join us in his work.
Many take the lack of hard evidence as evidence that God isn't there... I think that takes more faith than belief. -

I think so as well...and we have forgotten to recognize miralces..even the smallest ones..that we attribute to luck, fate, etc....or even stick with the label of "choices"...when it is all by the grace of a good god.
