Old People Are Rich

Old people are rich
Rich with memories
They hold
Those that are precious
Those never, to be told

If you are lucky
They will share one
With you
A way to be remembered
It's the least
You can do

Then you'll be rich
Rich with memories
To hold
Memories that are worth
Much more
Than gold

This is one more example of why I love talking to old people. They are just so much fun and eager to share.

You've captured the intent of the prompt nicely, reminding us of the importance of the past, of treasuring those whose memories can help us understand ourselves better. Thank you for the work you put into the poem and for taking the time to enter.

You asked me to enter it in your contest, so I did. I am very proud to meet someone like you, at any age, that has so much going for them.

But I am twice as proud of you, because of your age.

      Good For You!!

Thank you for your entry in our contest with this interesting poem about Old Age. It was a pleasure to read, but we felt the flow was a little erratic in places.
Please join us in future contests.

Thank you for the applause and comment. On subjects which are dear to my heart, as this one is, I do tend to leave certain areas for impact and to stress the message. I do realize, sometimes, I am sacrificing flow in the process.

      Thank you for your consideration.

    Those memories are precious,

audible pictures to share and enjoy. I find in those who are older than me so much wisdom and passion for life, and for the welfare of others.

    I like your poem.

Thank you for the applause and very nice comment. I found that people a week older than me are really old, and those a week younger are kids. It makes it easy for me to distinguish between the two. I stil don't know where I stand, but lately I'm leaning toward the really old.

      Thanks, Have Fun

One of the reasons I love talking to my grandma is that she can share so much with me - the good, the bad, and just the plain old silly. Excellent way of pointing this out; it makes me want to call her soon. Good job.

Short and sweet, prompts images of a child and his grandpa. Wisdom is more valuable than gold, and this poem definitely says it right!!!

That is so true. old people are definently rich in memories. I've said this many times to many different people. It is like when you see a couple who are so to speak "Poor", they are "Rich" in love. There is so much love to be shared in this world and if we looked at it that way instead of in the ways of money, then everyone in the world would be rich, rich in love.

    Thank you.
    It was a wonderful poem.
    Have a wonderful day.
    God Bless.
    Good luck.

Yes, I agree. I have gotten so rich in my own memories from those they have shared with me. A gold mine so untaped and neglected. As you can tell, from many of my poems, I am trying to spread the word. Thank You
