Enclosed in my self indulgent world
Lost in thoughts that take me
To places that don't yet exist
I drive
Consumed by the music I play
Enraptured by the solitude
That I crave so much

Delighted by the distance
Desolate when I head back,
back to the reality of home
Just drive
Keep driving
On and on

Tis a work in progress, but don't think I'll change much. I love being in my car alone, just driving. Everywhere I go from here takes ages so I often spend a good chunk of the day in the car. I love it and sometimes wish I could just keep going.

I love driving, too. It puts the pesky part of the brain to sleep so I can think more creatively. Most of my poem ideas pop into my head when I'm on a road trip or just driving to work. I could drive forever, too. I always feel most alive when I don't know what's around the next corner. Thanks for capturing one of my favorite activities so well.

Bex, I know this feeling of "flying away" so well. I, too like the solitude of some beautiful day spent traveling and listening to music on the car radio. I could not have penned it at well as you did. Unfortunately, the gas prices are keeping me much closer to home these days

Yes Petrol prices are pretty crappy aren't they, most of my long drives are associated with driving children to and from various things and the govt gives me money for the petrol (long story as to why) Usually my son is in the car, but he watches a DVD quietly or just quietly enjoys the ride, so really we both love it.
