Her True Pleasure

Missing image

Life's unexpected U-turn
leaves her used

catering to others needs

She abandons her dreams
alone

dark smoke blends into her sihouette
as she finds true pleasures
from sucking on the head
of her regrets

Oh I really enjoyed this. Years of abuse left me feeling this way for many many years. This is just great and so descriptive. Thanks for entering and good luck

Perfect, gritty picture of "damaged goods" syndrome in which people come to believe that they are not worthy of good things in life because something bad has happened to them. You have created a snapshot of an entire life and the reader ends up knowing this woman by the end of the poem. I especially like the first line as well as the last two. "Life's unexpected U-turn" is perfect. Also well done is the notion of "sucking on the head of her regrets." Perfect response to the picture.
