Maggie and Ben
Maggie my friend the bird she walks with me
And tells about her life up in the tree.
Greets all her friends when walking round the track
Gives them a wave with wing and they wave back.
I love our walks, so much we get to see
Each time the flora bright enthralls with glee.
As you can guess we’re not exactly the same
No one can be a better mate we claim.
Do you not see the two can mix as friends
Be there for both until the very end?
Each time we chat the friendship deepens more
No one will hurt dear Maggie that’s for sure.

Author notes
Option # one. I always marvel at how animals and birds can get on so well together even though they're different. It's a pity human nature couldn't always be like that.
Our world would be a better place.

This is such a cute poem, Joan and the picture, too. It reminds me of my old dog, Jake, a gentle black lab, He would be sitting on the step and sometimes the birds... the ones who were accustomed to him, would sit on his head. It was funny to watch... Jake would roll his eyes up trying to see the bird and he would just sit there quietly until the bird was ready to fly away.
Since this is a poem written for Huganauties, I can't imagine why I missed it until now

I SO agree AAAJ...
I thought the below a woman who was on Dr. Phil's 1000th and 1001st Show sent to me "might" make you smile. I hope so as I'm campaigning for smiles as I think woman who sent this to me is too. Love the cute picture of Maggie and Ben.

Dear Bea,
Elephants, Wolves, Swans, Mice, just a few of the examples of what we humans arrogantly call "dumb animals" which could teach us a lot about caring for each other. Just look at the example of our Paradise pair in Beckenham Park! If human parents showed the same care for their offspring we would have much less incident of teenage suicide, drugs, violence, vandalism and so on.
Then there are the remarkable examples of animals fostering the young of other species (Bengal tigress suckling piglets; Dachshund bitch mothering squirrel etc.)
And we humans think we are a superior life-form?
Applause for your splendid, rhyming acrostic and for its subject. Good luck in the voting.
Love and hugs, XOXOXO Hugh (R.)

Awww, this is so sweet!!! I love it! I knew I was going to like it from the title alone and when I saw the pic', I was already hooked!
It would be great if humans could get along the way some animals and birds do. The world would be a much better place!

Much Love,
♥ Maureen
P.S.: I call my very human cats Purdy and Mischief.

Awwww they're great names for human cats, coz that's what they are in my eyes. They know everything you say to them. My two when I say "NO" they know Mum means it. I'll have to send you some pics of them and you can send some to me.
Thank you sweetheart for your lovely comment.
Love Joan
