At Two in the Afternoon

Today,

as all days,
since that day,
I now walk without you.

I remember

the strolls and chats
on crisp afternoons.

we dreamed

of the time
somewhere in time
that you’d be whole.

no boundaries

to stop us
our path could be unpaved
no need of wheels.

only love

fastens us together now
inspires us to imaginings
offers hope of happier times

for each other

we go on…
you, on your passage
and I to these hills,

at two in the afternoon.

Author notes

This photo reminds me of times I spent with my son in the outdoors - he was in a wheelchair, so we had to be selective where we went. He passed in 2003 at the age of twenty. I miss him.
Symbolically, There are two poems contained within the one.
