Upon the Lake

Upon the lake,
where we first met
we sat down
and watched the ducks pass

and the doodles,
she went walking
in search for other
four legged companions

we have sunshine
we've had sadness
we've been in love
despite my brashness

on that day
where we met
when I told you
that I loved you

Our ragged jeans
now work trousers
Our accents are Welsh
Not scouser!

We were young
Full of fun
Still blind to it all
and the challenges to come

We've bought a house
and created a wonderland
with bare hands
what we've always waited for

a place we call home
with four walls
coloured with all
the shades that remind us

We always return
to that lake
where we met
and eat sandwiches

content with what is ours,
like our doodles,
as she chases the stars
and her tail
