A Conversation With a Very Good Friend.

Movement 1:

  What are you doing?

Thinking about him again.

What about him?

About how much of a fool he is

Why?

Why I’m thinking about his foolishness or why he is so?

Both.

He tried to cut himself today.

Why does it matter?

I have an obligation to love him

Why is that?

He doesn’t know what he’s doing.

Most people don’t.

But there are only so many God has let me reach to

He’s one of them.

…It’s funny;

Though I want to kill him

I want to save him from killing himself.

Isn’t that irony?

When you put it like that…

…What?

Its called human nature.

Movement 2:

I’m not quite sure what to say about him.

I suppose the word “confused”

Explains it all

Confused?

He doesn’t know what love is.

Most people don’t.

But most people aren’t so

Openly despirate for it.

In their own ways, they are.

He grovels!

He is like a pet dog,

Going to any one who will pet him!

It puts harlots to shame!

He lives purely on impulse,

Makes no effort to hold his tongue

From passing notions!

He is the epitomy of apathy—

Then why is he worth your time?

He’s not.

Then why do you care?

Because he needs to know.

Needs to know what?

There is such a thing as love.

Movement 3:

I suppose it all comes down to this

Down to what?

That someone loved me, the unloveable

And that someone is—

God.

I want him to know God too.

I want him to be changed

To feel what hope and love are

To be healed from brokenness.

If you despise him so much…

God told me to love my enemies.

And you do?

I’m getting there.

But he doesn’t know love;

He doesn’t know God.

Maybe even he can change.

Once, I remember,

He said with a smile,

“There’s always hope for me to change.”

The way he looked at me

Almost gave a window to his real heart

“I want something more,”

It almost said.

I think he wants change.

That’s very nice of you.

I wish it was.

…So you will pray for him,

Shall you?
I shall try.

Good! And so shall I!

And you shall forget the love letters he sent you as well?

…Perhaps.
