A small child sleeps alone in her room, hoping the monster under her bed willnot come out tonight.
A child awakes to find that she must walk alone to school again, in the pooring rain.
A young teenager goes to a school dance, without a date or any female companions.
A teenager goes to New York City to shop, surrounded by people but totally alone.
A young adult ships off to sea, a dream of becoming a famous sailor now gone, only hoping to get away form those who ignore her.
An adult goes to a bar hoping for some company on a drizzling night in the city and finds only quiet darkness in her apartment when she returns.
An older woman goes to a diner, the seat across from her remains empty.
A quiet funeral is in progress, no one is there but a funeral director and a few random people in the wrong room.
A lonely grave stone sits, between two trees where there are no bikers, no woman pushing carridges, no joggers, and no playing children; where she will lie, alone, for eternity.
