I long to lay down on the forest's carpet of decay,
And join the rot that nourishes,
Though my reasons are not so idealistic,
Just a quiet, unlamented passing
Can't you see I've been forsaken
Judged and found to be unworthy,
To walk beneath the sun,
Even the blood that runs from my open veins,
Cannot buy redemption,
It's an empty sight,
I've seen it before,
There's no comfort in it,
Though once but not anymore,
So I look to the cold and welcoming earth,
For a place to rest my soul,
Lose myself in the dreaming dirt,
And pass 'ere I finally break,
I long to sink into the darkness of the oceans floor,
And lose myself to the whalesong,
Become part of the pre-sentient dream,
Though I'm not dreaming of accension,
Just a nameless part in the story,
A sacrifice to the seas,
To feed the hungry dwellers,
That grow in the depths,
Though deeper yet I yearn to sink,
Deep into the womb of the earth,
To lose myself in the surging currents,
Found at the planets core,
Though it may not burn forever,
It may be just long enough,
I long to find solace in the embrace of the furnace sun,
And join the thermal tides,
That wax and wain over millenia,
Dancing to the slower rhythm of the stars,
Singing a requiem for the aeons,
Just a voice lost to the void,
Anomious and insignificant,
Random molecules drifting,
A dream that was once human,
Free, without rhyme or reason.
Existance is just enough,
To remain unshackled by sentient emotion,
Denying conscience evolution,
And answers found by oblivion,
I dream of drifting,
I long to wander in the forgotten regions of this earth,
And be amongst the treasures lost,
Though to be the opposing focii,
That sharpens the constrast,
Between precious stone and fools gold,
But I am held back, trapped,
By an underlying strength of will,
That says " Never Surrender...."
Denying me the release I seek,
Binding me to mortality,
Forced to walk a keen edge,
That bleeds my every step,
So I can't find my peace in obscurity,
I can't escape the bane,
That haunted my childhood,
And now haunts the man.

This is a very excellent read. I like the imagery you use here. The way you describe things is very well done. You don't make it read like a suicide poem which is very much appreciated since I really don't like them very much. This however, doesn't read like one and I can say that I honestly do like it. Great job!

This was a wonderful piece of poetry.. though it is a bit long for me, it did read smoothly, and the emotion was intense.. I really enjoyed reading this.. thank you very much for sharing..

Sigh... I have that same shadow.. and I long to do those things too for then perhaps our minds will be fully open and we can see reason for all that happens and all that we are!

that was AMAZING! it touched me so much i just love it! my favorite was the second one, that started out with "i long to sink into the darkness of the oceans floor" beautiful! i often think of disappearing into the middle of nowhere, where no one can find me, i think very similiarly to this, but i didnt put it into such touching words! thank you for writing this
