Such a cute ball of fluff
she melted my heart,
becoming part of the household
right from the start.
Grace by name
yet certainly not by manner
as she thumped round the house
just like waving a banner!
Crouching in wait
as I would walk past,
then claws into ankle
as I escaped fast!
Second in line
wanting to be the top cat
she'd tease and she'd taunt
getting hisses and taps.
Toys littering the floor
jumping on anything that moved,
from feathers to balls
oh herself she would prove.
Beware those black eyes
for they're ready for trouble,
peace is soon to be shattered
just like a bubble.
But then she curls up
asleep on my lap
oh what can I do,
for Grace has my heart trapped!

Reminds me so much of this little scamp of mine. Causes chaos and then lies and looks oh so innocent when he sleeps. Although some of the rhyme seems a little forced in places the overall sentiment of the piece is captured in the poem. Well done and many thanks for entering my contest. Sorry for the delay in judging but I have had a severe lung infection.
