Black: it's more than just a word. It's descriptive to the point of becoming a personal doctrine. I am black...black upon black.
The clothing that shrouds me from the view of any prying eyes is a clinging testament to shaded glory, its folds enveloping me in false comfort. And outside it's dark, a midnight sky so overcast with thunder-bearing clouds that there isn't even starlight to reveal me for the fraud that I am.
I slithered from the bed, a mere shiver of flesh against fabric, and clothed myself in the comforting embrace of darkness. A quiet drop out of the forever-open window put me within range of freedom. And as I ran, feet whispering through lush grass that was really only a dark puddle of indiscernible color, I soon found myself outside another window.
Your window. Your LOCKED window.
I could see you there, asleep in a bed much too large for only your solitary frame. You created an outline that I instantly recognized. I remembered your body intimately even after months of denying myself the security of its touch.
And in the shadow of that memory rose a buddying hope, a flurry of colorless butterflies that flapped pitifully inside the well of my stomach. I was as black inside as out without you. That realization brought a sudden tightness to my throat, a stinging in the back of my eyes.
Tap. Tap..TAP!
Yes, I broke my own rules. I came back of my own accord this time. And as I watched you stir from the depths of that lonely bed and walk toward the window, I knew you felt it, too. It was the surety in your stride, that unhesitating eagerness to confirm what was surely just another fleeting dream.
I placed my hand on the window, letting the tears slip down my face as color once again flooded my world, returned with only two tiny words.
You placed your hand in line with mine, your lips mouthing the key to my long sought-after freedom. "Suki desu," you whispered, for this was no dream.

Aww...thanks for the applause and commentation. I have some VERY vivid and strange dreams. I guess that's why the translate so well into written word. As for "colorless butterflies"...do you know that feeling you get when you're excited but unsure of the consequences of that excitement? In the dream I was trying to squash the feeling, so it took the color out of the excitement. It was sort of like denying myself the full extent of the feeling. Thanks again, hun.
Always appreciated.

Why, thank you, my dear! It was actually a dream I had. I do like it, though. I may turn it into another story. It certainly has the potential. Glad you likes and thanks for reading/commenting.
