The Cameraman (1928)

"Lean back Lenore,
a little bit more,
Lift your hand just so"

"Your beauty my dear,
I'll capture it here,
for all the world to know!"

"Now tilt out there,
and throw back your hair,
let no tresses show!"

"Now really my dear,
a bit to the rear,
That's right, there you go!"

        "But Albert I fear
        I may fall in here...
        Oh Albert, come Albert...Noooooooo.....!"

"What is that my dear?
I was focusing here...
...Now where on earth did you go?"

Author notes

I laughed the first time I read it and laughing now again!
I think Albert had a plan and succeeded!
The perfect way to make a wife disappear...

This is funny, the short lines worked so well making the poem read fast, as in real motion.
    well done!

Love this cute rhyme. Really fun, but I don't think of you and Aesthete as evil-doers. (I just mentioned to her that my dad had a camera just like the one she doodled. -- He owned a photography shop.)

I enjoy your odd and creative posts and your theater.

  • With artful style
    you bring a smile!!!

Oh you two and your "evil" humor. Loved the doodle. Actually my father, who owned a photography store, had a camera just like this one! (File under memories of my youth.)
    • Oh and, you got the right kind of camera, that is the kind I had in my head when I wrote it, hopefully the mock-formality of the poem gave that impression.
      • Speaking of mock-formality,
        how about mock-INformality?
        • Hey! Are you saying I'm goofy?

          But true.
          • I couldn't resist!!!!!!
            It was just too perfect!
            And Keystone wouldn't be Keystone
            without just a liitle "Goofy"
            mixed in!!!!!!!!!!!!
            It's all in the balance,
            intellect and wit
            weighed against
            clever and "goofy."

            Aesthete
      • It was just a quick doodle---
I probably should have redrawn it--
just wanted to catch the melodrama,
Albert under the black photographer's cover,
Lenore dressed up for the photo,
        multi-petticoats flying!
        • Don't poo-poo it, I like it! Quick doodles always have a flair to them, well not all, mine are scary.

It fits the humor of the poem perfectly.
    • LOL, good stuff!

Hey, now that you put it that clearly...that kind of makes me look evil...but it does you too since you drew it!

      Poor Lenore.
      • Of course, entering the evil melodrama world
of silent film, the villian clearly painted!
Now we know, Keystone is contagious.
