The writing on the Wall

I lie awake and think of you,
And the moments we have shared.
Your eyes are like the ocean blue,
The passion can't be compared.

We knew right from the very start,
That it just wasn't right.
Yet that did not keep us apart,
We almost made love that night.

I long to feel your big strong arms,
And your kiss so tenderly.
I am intoxicated by your charms,
I want to set it free.

I still feel your body pressed next to mine,
How eager you were to please me.
A feast of lust for us to dine,
The memories now just tease me.

I feel your touch, I taste your kiss,
I want you more now than ever.
To be with you now is what I wish,
A feeling nothing can sever.

So now the question I ask is this,
Where do we go from here?
Do we stop and pretend it did not exist,
And end it all out of fear.

It would hurt the ones that we love,
It's a shame but it is true.
Like the piercing cry of a dove,
I don't know what to do.

Is it better to love and lost,
Than to never love at all?
Is that the truth at all cost?
Is the writing on the wall?

  • I can totally relate to the message that you speak of in this piece. Two lovers that want to be together but circumstances prevent it, but they still love, none the less..
