To Mothers of All

Mother, I will never forget all you've done, from start to finish.

Old Mother of thy Mother, your sand hath run out long ago, but your wisdom lives on.

Mother of the Earth, you take our abuse and give us your plenty, yet you never complain.

Mother of Time, oh how you watch knowingly when our time hath come, yet always forever silent.

Mother of Fabled Myths, you give your stories to the ages, so we never forget your morals.

Mother of our Fathers, your beliefs started a New World for the Brave.

Mothers of our home lands, you started what we shall finish, I long to see those shining emerald isles of yore.

Mother of the Garden, You started it all, be it a story in a book or reality.

To all our Mothers, be you real or be you myth, our respect you doth have earned long past eternity's end.

Mothers you are strong with so much to teach, yet so much to learn.

Our love for you has always been born from seed unknown at the start of life.

And though we may not show, we do respect and appreciate, all you've done, just in the name of love.

And when we scream for you, your there in the night, chasing fear from our minds.

You keep the daemons from our heart and soul, whether they be real or illusion.

You protect us with unconditional fortitude and compassion, which we hope to have one day.

And though you may not always be by our side, we know its only because you think its right.

We won't shed tears on this night, your night of nights, but know when you leave you are missed.

Now and forever more and forever then, you have earned your right within our hearts.

And one day, all you've taught us will be put to test, as we be or make Mothers one day.

Author notes

This is to Mothers of Past to Future, in a style I don't use often. Its for my respect to Mothers, of all ages, I entered it into the May contest, but not for winning, I could care less, but because it's something I should have done sooner then now.

Welcome to Allpoetry and thank you for entering the contest

I enjoyed the format, it's unusual and I have always appreciated that which is different.

I think that the tribute to all mothers of existance is a beautiful idea, and you've done so well

Welcome to allpoetry and enjoy the site
    Good luck in the contest

    Welcome to AllPoetry

This is very heartfelt and it does show a lot of admiration toward our mothers... very thoughtful. I'm not one for Old English in modern poetry, but to each their own. "your there" should be "you're there". Otherwise this is very emotional, thanks for sharing and good luck in the contest

Thank you, but I must admit it was quiet the challenge to get the minimum requirements for the contest met without it feeling like I was trying to hard, and I must say that if I dedicated this poem to only my mothers on mother's day, it would feel selfish to myself afterwards.

Thank you very much, I just hope everyone can feel the amount of respect I poured into this piece, but I must admit the hardest part was making it fit the May contests minimum standard of 20 lines.
