The first coke bottle is finished, and a new one opened.
After filling the glass, the cap is screwed back on
But not the right cap
not the right cap at all
It's the cap from the old bottle.
The new cap, it gets thrown into the bin.
The trash gets emptied
It winds up in the silo bin
Lost, forgotten about,
and missing it's bottle
The cap was made for the that bottle.
It was designed for it, fit it, they were one.
But the bottle has a new cap, that fits just as well.
And the bottle has moved on, serving it's purpose
Whilst the cap rots in the garbage tip.
After filling the glass, the cap is screwed back on
But not the right cap
not the right cap at all
It's the cap from the old bottle.
The new cap, it gets thrown into the bin.
The trash gets emptied
It winds up in the silo bin
Lost, forgotten about,
and missing it's bottle
The cap was made for the that bottle.
It was designed for it, fit it, they were one.
But the bottle has a new cap, that fits just as well.
And the bottle has moved on, serving it's purpose
Whilst the cap rots in the garbage tip.
Author notes
I seriously was sitting here after I read the contest thinking... fuck... metaphor, I suck at metaphor. I'm a similes type of guy. I had an empty coke bottle in front of me with a sprite lid on, and it all sort of fell into place.
I read it through, don't know it works, but it took me, oh, 1 minute to write. That's brains for you, they work in mysterious ways.

Whilst even I admit this isn't a great piece, it has a certain sort of uniqueness and weirdness in it I like.

Wow very interesting take on the prompt! This was so original and I never seen one quite like this. I love the idea of old and new pop bottles and caps, refering to past and present loves. Excellent thoughts gathered for this piece!! Thanks so much for sharing & best of luck
