Oftentimes, lyrics can be tough to read as poetry, because they have no rhythm in and of themselves. This piece most certainly does, and I like that.
Your idea for different voices is a good one. Do you have someone who could set it to music for you, if you don't do it yourself? This is a really nice piece.
