I'll Be Your Candle Burning

Your heart beats,
next to mine.
Lovers clasping,
entwine.
Tender moment,
combine.
Teardrops welling,
in rhyme.

When your heart is turning,
When your passion is yearning,
When your love is confirming,
When your mind is churning.
I’ll be your candle burning.

Holding tightly,
caress.
Moaning softly,
undress.
Lips touching,
compress.
Lover’s united,
confess.

Tonight, I’m the one that’s returning.
Tonight, I’m the one performing.
Tonight, I’m the fire place warming.
Tonight, I’m the blanket forming.
Tonight, I’m your candle burning.

Letting you go,
goodbye.
Broken dreams,
eyes cry.
Shattered hope,
just die.
Lifting skyward,
let fly.

Don’t forget me.
You’re in my heart.
You’re on my mind.
Remember me.
I’ll be your candle burning.
I'll be your candle burning.
Flickering light.
Passing of night.
I'll be your candle burning.

Author notes

I think this would work well with a male and female sharing the lines in a lyrical reflection back and forth. Just a thought? Let me know what you think.

    More with a male.
I really think you as a man, write so softly heap your thoughts on your partner and walk with the burning candle.

    Truly a duet

I can see it with a country twang, ala: Dolly Parton & Johnny Cash....Good work

Oftentimes, lyrics can be tough to read as poetry, because they have no rhythm in and of themselves. This piece most certainly does, and I like that. Your idea for different voices is a good one. Do you have someone who could set it to music for you, if you don't do it yourself? This is a really nice piece.

Thank you very much for reading and commenting. I do have a friend that I'll have to show this too that may be able to set to lyrics. We'll have to see what happens.
