the crash

We screamed at him to slow down – he swore he’d never drink, if only he had stopped to listen or even stopped to think

He didn’t think of families, loved ones or even friends, just thinking of his selfish buzz while he screams around the bends.

I didn’t see him look away or even try to flinch, fuelled up by his drunken rage – refused to give an inch.

We never saw it coming - I never even knew, as the sound of broken glass did ring - that windscreen he went through.

Whilst time did pass and we moved on but sadly I still see - that pale look on blood stained face as he looks on up at me

The journey took us further - it took away my breath it took me to his funeral - it took him to his death.
