There is an Island I built in
my mind. . . special refuge from pain.
It is filled with beautiful things
to cherish when going insane.
There are mountains of such beauty,
mountains which one is blessed to see.
Gurgling brooks and fountains abide,
bringing blessed tranquility.
I cannot change my illnesses now,
so must learn to live with their pain.
Better to be one sensible,
rather than blunder down in vain.
At the bridge to my island there
is a box to hold all my woes
while I am Tranquility,
take the lid and firmly I close.
Here is a world where I can walk,
no falling or stumbling about.
Here I linger so peacefully,
mind clear, not filled with hopeless doubt.
At the end of my journey there
I sigh, say goodbye to this place.
Strengthened and infused with sweet peace.
Now adversity I can face.

BEAUTIFUL
Hi there beautiful soul, you have penned here a beautiful write, and i can really relate to your words espessially having to deal with the constant pain on a daily basis,in which that alone is a hard thing to do, but your words speak of strength and show a positive out look on your days, and i take my hat off to you as i know your struggles on a daily basis.I too have struggles trying to stay positive when the body is in so much pain, its hard.Your poem left me feeling positive, and my soul really needed a lifting today, as my pain has increased due to the rain, arthritis and rain simply dont go together.I wish you all the best in the contest, and send to you, many beautiful blessings of love and happiness.
Your friend in poetry,
~Angel~

All I see out my windows is buildings, concrete - so when it tears at my soul I go to Tranquility and dream of fresh peaches and sweet tea.
Thank you for your very kind comment.

JCat - all my childhood I was told I had an overactive imagination... like it was a bad thing. But I find safety in refuge in my imaginary worlds. I still cope with reality - yet have my peace zone to run to.

Honey, life is so hectic that we must do something to keep everything from crushing us. My favorite dream world is the one with Johnny Depp, a desert island, and a lack of clothing!!
