What it to love and to care?
to watch that person and not help but stare.
A long long time has passed it seems,
when he was just a figure in dreams.
"I love you" appeared on my mobile screen
but were those words he'd really mean?
Flip a coin, how do I reply?
"I love you too" I said, but I
didn't know whether to laugh or cry,
was it something he'd really say to someone like I?
"I'd cry for you,
I'd die for you,
I'd run the extra mile for you"
But really and truly be realistic...would you?
It took me a while, and it took him to say,
that he really meant it, forever and always.
"I really do love you in every way,
and it's not just something I'd easily say."
You see
You can tell when someone loves you,
when you're on the inside of their eyes.
When they phone you up in their sleep,
and cover it up in their own surprise.
You can tell when someone loves you,
when they move at your own pace,
and even in all intimate moments,
they hold it off to look at your face
instead of you body, which is new.
That's how you know someone loves you.

I don't need to go into any great depth on this poem, as I expressed my awe/wonder of this poem over msn a while back.
It is superb, and I don't think anyone else out of our group of poets (you, me, marc, hollie)could write anything better than this....I know you'll argue that I can write better, but you know that ain't true =]
Excellent poem, I take my hat off to you

This is exactly what I'm going through, the first part that is. You illustrated the situation very well here. Some parts are a little vague, most likely because they come from your experience, but the specific detail adds to the poem. I love the way you talked about youself because makes the second part mean something; it's not just empty words. Overall very good job.
