Room dark, wide awake
I hear the front door creak
I close my eyes and count to ten
and wait for her to speak
It's 10 pm and she's been out
With her sister and friends
I don't believe her, I can't, I won't,
So I simply play pretend
She's put poison in my coffee
Knives inside the bed
She waits for me to fall asleep
To confirm that I am dead
To please her young new lover
With the money in his pocket
The Chevrolet, the house, the ring
The priceless white gold locket
But she tells me all is dandy
That I'm her only one,
How could she leave the man she loves;
The father of her son?
So as I hear her enter
I try to catch her in the act;
Get out of bed, turn on the lights,
And ask whats in her sack,
She smiles and says politely
It's just a small surprise
But I can always see the smirk
Behind those helpless eyes
She reaches down in side
I wait for to shoot
"Happy birthday baby,
I bought you some new boots"
While she was with her sister,
My stomach went into knots
The shock came quick, now I'm in bed
after two adrenaline shots
Now all is fine and dandy
I love my dear wife so
But please be kind, when she says bye
Believe her when she goes!
Author notes
I NEVER rhyme poetry,
but this just kind of popped into my head ^.^

I liked the interesting twist this poem had in it...mixture of evil, confusion, mistrust, like mind games...excellent writing, poet...
