and hope, springing forth on Cuban heels
that hit the floor like beating drums,
sends scents of coconut oil and summer sun
through the wind chimes of my heart.
This song has no beginning, no end,
just hold me close in thief’s embrace;
we can cheat on place and time
in a swirl of rainbow’s fabric torn,
gather wild raspberries under moonshine.
I’ll sup them from your candied lips
and allow unwanted wishes life
until you tire, desire dwindling,
my ruby slippers shattering,
no more to dance for love.

Cool. Been dancin!
-
Congrats on your goldS !!!
I couldn't for the life of me figure out how you'd work all those words/phrases into a poem, but you make it look EASY! (And I didn't find it easy at all.
) Great job, and I thank you for the "dances" exchanged!
Best wishes,
~J.

This is such an excellent poem on dance, you used each and every selection so clever. It flowed with each movement across the dance floor of your poem!

Thank you, it was fun, and having good partners helped!

even without your fifth day, (I think your NZ timing gave you an extra) you have 19 claims on your dance card which puts you into the finalist list for The Mixer -Part II, as well.
-
excellent! I like how tight this is. I thought strip the willow was a country dance movement like bird in a cage - now I shall have to look it up because I get this Latin feeling from the poem and think the title is much sexier than the dance move it evoked in my mind originally.

-
-
I don't know Bird in a Cage, but Strip the Willow involves being involved with one partner after another - some you fall in love with instantly, and live through a whole affair in the sixteen bars or so that you're together - others, you don't.
If you're lucky, and the band keeps playing, and the circle is small, you even get to do it again with him! -
-
aha... my dance terms are rusty but that rings a bell with me now.
