Out in a midnight sky,
Is the moon, soaring high.
Too many stars to count,
Too many for my liking.
They wink at me,
And I wink back
In an odd and disorderly action.
The moon must think I am insane
For I am looking at the stars, not him.
I should stop this nonsense,
I thought.
But I could not take my eyes away
From the stars, in that midnight sky,
And the neon white moon.
The, scintillating, beautiful stars,
Like I said, they’re dazzling.
But now, my actions are unpredictable,
Since now I am lost in their trance.
Now the moon is at its zenith,
And my eyes begin to close
Under the blanket of stars.
It envelopes me,
Shielding me from ominous darkness
That has enveloped me
Now that I am asleep.
