On the surface we're just like every small town
We're a real community with pride deserving of a crown
represented by a giant sparkling jewel
complaining every day of the prices of fuel
But no one from the outside would ever guess the truth
The fun that we've celebrated and the tragedies we've cried through
We're closer than we appear, a community of love
We all fit together, like a hand to a glove
Of course its not all good, things are swept under the rug
things like the 12 year old kids who are addicted drugs
things like a few years ago per capita, we were capital for teen pregnancy
we've had our share of scandals, in fact we've filled our capacity
But we work through our problems in our old school way
Because when your here, you don't let friends get betrayed
So don't judge us from the surface because you'll never know
You've got to know us for real, not just the surface, look below.

Kind of like people, a town, isn't it? I like the philosophy of 'community' here. Though not perfect, at least striving for unity. Nicely done and a lovely entry for this contest. Thank you for this. ~Pamela

Times sure do change...teen pregnancy and drug addicted twelve year olds were non existent in my young years. I guess there is something to be said in a positive way for the old values..
