they asked him why he was angry

 

 

 

He was angry
because he didn't believe
they ate the same food they fed him
He was angry
because he didn't think
they followed the same rules they punished him by
He was angry
because he was sure
he was only as interesting as far as he could be taken advantage of

He was right

not about being angry

just everything else

even though the anger
gave him nothing
He was angry
even though the anger
swallowed most of his other emotions
He was angry
even though everyone around him
drank from glasses half-full
He was angry

He just didn't know how to explain it to them

    Well done, Greg. I feel like that a lot myself. It sure is easy to become angry with small minds and hateful people. The question is, will we ever be able to do anything about it. If the answer is an unequivoval "no" then all we can do is grin, bear it, and hope for the Future wherein we MAY be able to do something. reality can be pretty damn depressing, no? Oh well. Maybe the next generation can help us - IF they can pull themselves away from their T.V.'s and video games long enough to finish an intelligent thought, which I don't expect. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised to see this republic fail in about fifty years. The seeds have been sown: the violence in our "culture," the word "nigger," T.V. and movie violence, the simple fact that Love means nothing though sex is all the rage. That plus the fact that we have no values that are not given to us from T.V. lead me to believe that we're all screwed in the long run. We'll see. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised to see US destroy the world. What a mess. It starts at the top and filters down. Good luck, and once again you've got another great poem my friend! - ocerus
