Personal journal to D.Calehan,
Seaman cook aboard her majestys navy Flagship-
The "Silver Star".
3-days was I drifting at sea, a lone suvivor.
Vaguely I remember A dense fog
& being pulled aboard A dark ship;
Glimpses of women,their voices fading....
Must be a dream- Was I rescued?
Little did I know what lie in my future.
5-sept-1642
I awoke to A scurvy fellow looking down
as if wondering what to do with me.
"He's awake!" She shouted, this - was - A - Woman?!
A Buxom large woman walked over,yanked me up
and asked "Can ye walk,Boy?"
(Obviously the "Captain"?) barely breathing;
I was in shock - Finally I whispered "Yes".
She barked orders to two young girls,
"take him to the galley,feed him then
take him to my quarters!"
I ate feverishly in silence and confusion
then went to see the captain.
She looked me over and sent the others out.
I asked for "Parle'" and she laughed,
I was being given A choice -
"Take ye chances back in the sea, or
be me ships Cabin Boy?"
If I chose the latter then I could be released
when they next came to Port.
I accepted the job, thus began my life as "Boy".
12-Oct-1642
In all my 19 yrs. never had I seen women like this,
Tall, Masculine- Bigger than any man & yet some
still fair to the eyes; But alas not to be fooled,
for they are Pirates just as any other.
Each day begins before sunrise, in the galley
I help prepare food and ale for the crew.
then sharpen swords and other forms of weaponry
to ready them for battle.
Scrub the crews sleeping quarters -
their clothes and the decks from bow to stern.
Cabin Boy? More like Slave.
Not sure how long I can live like this.
30-dec-1642
Thus far i've managed to keep my journal hidden,
I fear worse than death if it's found.
After the attack on a Village in "Port De' Pinto";
Plundering all to be had,
One of the crew died of her wounds this morning.
"Captain Jade" gave a breif summary of "Lil"
and set her ablaze pushing the wooden raft out to sea.
With all the Gold, jewels and food piled in the center
of the ship; Captain Jade ordered A pint of Rum to
each of the crew, taking A pint o Whiskey for herself.
They drank in rememberance of "Lil".
02-Jan-1643
Out to sea once more,they continued to celebrate their bounty.
One by one they passed out, I bided my time and waited
giving them more drink.
I knew this could be my only chance for escape.
Finally their all down - full of Rum & whiskey,
they wouldn't wake.
slowly and quietly I bagged some food,
water and only a couple of gold coins-
(maybe I can Barter my way to A safe port)
I loaded the dingy and lowered it,
I started rowing faster and faster till my arms ached
and daylight approached.
Hiding from the suns blaze under a sheet I drifed and slept,
Rowing at night.
4-jan-1643
Heading due south by the compass I took.
I can only ponder as to what the crew of the "Jade Dragon"
would've been thinking when they found I was gone;
Will they come looking for me? I pray not.
I'd rather die at sea -or by my own hand
than lose my soul, broken down as A slave
on any Pirate ship.
I again put my fate at the mercy of the sea;
waiting in hopes of A rescue.
(not by pirates)
These events are as I lived them,for 4-long months.
If I am found dead, let this be a warning.
I am D.C. - Seaman cook aboard her majestys
Navy Flagship the " Silver Star".
I was the only survivor.
Author notes
Not a poem, but hopefully a "short" story is acceptable?

Thank you very much, I really appreciate the *Silver* & your comments on this. I will try to look into the "Grammer" of it......

True this is more a short story than a poem but I like what you did with it, there are several grammatical errors but it was a good write, I enjoyed the read.

OH MY GOSH! This story is absolutely amazing! You can be really proud of this, truly... a wonderful write that sounds like a pirate-watcher wrote it!
