The late summer breeze was blowing in from the west,
green trees swayed in the gentle wind,
the smell of freash cut grass filled the air,
as few people walked the hot faded city streets,
this day I felt alone..
singled out from the rest for some unknown reason,
something I've always lacked to understand,
why do I feel marked for the worst?
didn't know what else to do that day..so started walking,
late into the night I walked..driven my not knowing my purpose in life,
not really caring that I was in the bad part of town..
nothing maters when your own shadows block out the sad reality you live in,
away from the street lights..I took a look at the stars,
so distant..but beautiful,
so simple too...
in the midnight affair I learned little about myself,
all I ended up with were sore feet, more broken dreams,
finally returning home..drank some ice water,
the cold liquid chilled me to the bones,
broke me from the deep self appointed concentration I had,
it released me until another night,
once again I was free.
