Courted by passion
Married to fear
The quiet love that led her here
She sits in this office
And tries to catch his eye
Staying silent
Listening to his lie
She turns to the woman
Sitting between
This professional wall
On which she can't lean
He says with a frown,
"It's really been tough.
You see, she just wasn't good enough."
The lawyer, she nods
And raises her brow
Turns to the woman
And asks, "What now?"
She sits there in silence
And looks at the man
Silently pleading
The best that she can
"See that's why I'm leaving,"
He suddenly spouts,
"She's too weak for me,
I have to get out!"
She stares at the man
With whom she once said her vows
She thought he had loved her
Now his heart won't allow
Him to accept her flaws
And keep her despite
The one way arguements
That kept them up at night
She reflects on the tension
That built up inside
Of the marriage she lived in
The man in whom she confides
She thinks of the harsh words
He used to cut deep
Which inside her heart
She chose to keep
The tears run a course
Down her sunken face
As her and her ex husband
Leave the place
He looks at her
And says goodbye
"Sorry I wasn't willing to try."
He carries this dignity
Even now that they're done
He drives away quickly
And leaves her with none
