At HY-Vee the other day,
I saw a box on a shelf.
Instant Breakfast it said,
though no tiger or elf
graced its front or its back.
It looked like a deal,
and went in my sack.
I'm usually hurrying
most mornings nowadays,
and my job takes more time
than it's worth, or it pays.
But I'm not alone in
this too modern time.
Calling someone who cares
takes more than a dime.
Everyone seems too busy
to pause on the way --
and dwell on life's blessings,
or savor the day.

You'd think that with all the "instant" everything we have these days that we'd able to take a moment more often to enjoy the little things. I like that first stanza. Funny how we're even to busy to chew.

So true
We seem to rush through the weeks, doing things that seem important, and then wonder, are they really that critical. Nice little ditty here

Very nice work. Like the enjambment in the first stanza between the fourth and fifth lines. Amusing. It's so true. We all seem to be so isolated from one another and do not pay attention to the passage of the day.

I guess that proves it! I have no clue what happened but it seemed awfully funny! It sent itself.
The poem, after it got its ducks in a row
in verse one, delivered both brevity
and cogent form to express what I also know.
Heh, I'll save time and my anonymity!
Well done!
With thanks.

I've had trouble ...
with multiple postings too. I don't know what happens.
Anyway, thanks for the kind words.

conversational in this end-rhyme, and a piece of life; snapshot of man and circumstance...wondering so much change so much difference; but how much progress...and at what price...PK
