A Modern Fairy Tale

Now gather round children, I've a tale to tell
about the greatest salesman who ever did sell.
Went to Alaska with nothing to his name,
chasing his dreams of finding fortune and fame.

Wondering what he could find to entice
people to buy in a land of snow and ice-
not much that he thought of could he barter
until he thought of Alaskan bottled water.

So he lined up his bottles, and found him a spring,
and soon his small business was an ongoing thing.
During that summer he made a lot of cash
because Alaskan bottled water was such a huge smash.

Summer turned to fall, and then back to cold-
now I'll end this story about our salesman so bold.
As the water froze, he would give us this advice-
"A good salesman can always sell an Eskimo ice."

  • Thank you for your entry in our contest, it's a great poem and it made us smile. He must have been one hell of a salesman to achieve all that, but then this is just fantasy...isn't it?
Please join us in our future contests, we look forward to reading more from you...Sue and Jeff

  • Funny, I do think selling ice to and eskimo is a fairy tale...lol...no matter how good the salesman...

This is really cute. Of course, the last line is the clincher. A lesson for children is never a bad thing. The impossible can be achieved if you believe that it can.

    Good Luck, ~ Joyce

3rd stanza, 3rd line: I think it would flow better with one less syllable.
