Feeling's Whim

I'm headed out to meet with God

For on this Earth too long I've trod

Without a thought to His love will

For me, my life; just what I feel...

Yes feelings I relied upon,

Instead of Faith, Satan's great pawn;

By feelings he will lead astray

Unless we turn to God and pray.

As Christians we must live for Him

And not rely on feeling's whim.

Yes, feelings fail; lead to despair

It's faith that brings us Jesus' care.

It's time for those called by His name

To stand and show just why He came;

To save us all from sin's great dearth

And show us what we're really worth.

Author notes

Feelings... they lead astray. Feelings are fleeting and do not last. Faith on the other hand.. is real. It's time for me to make God first place in my life once more. Too long I have followed feeling... I've allowed my feelings take me away from God. God is not the God of feeling; He is the God of faith and it is only faith that pleases Him...

It's time my fellow Christians... to stand with Him. Please forgive me for not doing as I know to do.

~Melissa

    Mel, you are so right and you chose to not just choose but to choose to express what is on your heart. Faith is not feelings, but we fail so often because feelings are where we stare in the morning mirror. To rise above that is something that either God Himself gives you or something that possesses your own soul. I can't find it now, and to lie to you would be silly. I just can't find it now. I love you sis and your words are biting in my spirit. RC

    A beautiful write and message. Good flow, rhyme and tone. Lovely depth of feeling. Your faith and conviction shine in this piece. Good word choice, nice alliteration and assonance. Excellent closing verse. Well penned dear one and most enjoyed.

    Amen!

    Your words of conviction and truth awake the sleeping Christian in me, feelings can lead us astray and away from God. We must submit ourselves to His purpose and will every day. I love the last stanza and totally agree:

    It's time for those called by His name
    To stand and show just why He came;
    To save us all from sin's great dearth
    And show us what we're really worth.

    Well written poem of commitment and determination. Well Done my Sister! God Bless you real good.

    another beautiful penning Melissa, filled with inspiring words of faith. I'm not sure I would trade in all feelings for only faith though, as I believe feeling has it's place too. Wonderfully written as always from you.

    Wonderful

    Perfect thoughts there, daughter, and wonderful as well. It's amazing how God can reach down through the maze of obstacles we put in his way and touch us. And that touch is so revealing sometimes. Great thoughts and great poetry as well.

    Love you,
    Popa Paul

    p.s. Obviously need to talk to you as well. This sounds fantastic.

      Papa Paul, thanks... I know that you pray for me... and it's appreciated... I'm on my way back to Him, where I belong!

      I will call you in a few hours when I'm well on my way to the foothills of the Appalachian mountains; that is... IF my cell picks up a signal...

      much love to you!

    Sweetie!

    You are at a point experienced by many who love the Lord. It's great to read what you have learned; yes, emotions are totally unreliable, as are the rest of our senses. We must walk by faith, and not by sight, or feeling.

    I believe the Lord intended emotions to be used to keep us in touch with reality, but the curse of this world has made them unreliable, just like our conscience, marred by sin, is unreliable. So often what we sense is not reality.

    We see that God is the ultimate reality. When all else fades away, to include emotions, the Lord will remain.

    As you learn to rely on what the Lord shows you, and less on feeling, you will grow by leaps and bounds.

    God bless, sis! Love you very much!
