Can you see the moon
Shining in the midnight sky
Like a yellow orb?

Nice! I love to look at the moon, and I love moonlight... therefore I liked your poem. I've dared to try writing a Haiku - unfamiliar ground, you know.
And 'shining' is perfect in every way here, including grammatically and scientifically.
From the Oxford Desk Dictionary: "Shine: 1. emit OR REFLECT light"

Yes, it doesn't shine, but I think that it's more like a metephore that a real statement from science class. Anyhow, thanks for pointing that out.

the moon doesn't shine it reflects light from the sun,lol great write well done
